NaNoWriMo: Why I'll Never Do It Again

Before I start, I’d like to clarify: I’m not trying to discourage anyone from trying it. I’m only speaking from my personal experience.

For a few years I’d been aware of the event, but the actual date always seemed to slip away from me. Then in November 2023 I told myself, this is the year. Even though I only had 1 day to prepare, I thought, I have an idea, I have notes, I can do this. Spoiler alert: I couldn’t.

Some mistakes I made:

• Trying to write 3 stories at once, setting unrealistic expectations for myself.
• Not having enough preparation before November.
• Not taking into account how busy I’d be with work during that time.

I’m thinking about making a video talking about it in detail.
