Transmedia Narratives and Fandom

I was taking an online class on transmedia storytelling. One of the instructors explained the origins of the concept, back in the 1970s, as offering more for those fans who wanted more. He even mentioned this desire as something inherently human, citing ancient Greece, and how back then we were already making statues of fictional characters, which I think is beautiful.
